Spaces like this and many others are at risk from real estate projects

meanwhile city natures are important for biodiversity, since the agri-industrial deserts formerly known as "the countryside" become sterile, not much survives there anymore. "Green New Deals" will add to the destruction and degradation.

yes, I understand that deeply -- I am beginning the process of re-wilding a 5 hectare property that was used as an apple orchard starting about 140 years ago and then it had cattle and horses on it up until a few years ago. Pretty much all native vegetation has been stripped, and it is an open field full of weeds (not 100%, but a lot)... The soil is productive in this region, but I have no idea how much agricultural poisons may be in there. I am making large compost piles, that can help amend the soil, but there are many unknowns ...

a weird loop is playing now on Peter's stream ...

hi John , interesting, are you documenting this process of re-wilding? In the end it's all about the ground/soil...

We've been having similar discusions here for a few years. In 2018 we held a small symposium called 'Wild' and used our 4,5 hectare property as a test site. Mostly we made temporary art interventions but it kicked off a wider awareness of the problems of "land management".
