Today, 12:00 CET (in about 10min!) radio.earth live session:

*** Walking Berlin with a broom by katrinem / Sam Auinger ***

In this streaming session katrinem and Sam Auinger walk from Prenzlauerberg to Moritzplatz. A broom is always with them and is pulled behind them relaxedly.
Its soft dragging sound sometimes reveals the different floor patterns and
coverings. They linger for at least 10 minutes each at particular places/sites, such as Mauerpark or Alexanderplatz. tune in at https://radio.aporee.org

compared to yesterdays's session this gives a completely different impression on public space and how it is inhabited and utilized

To talking about the biodiversity, as they wrote Udo, John G. and Neoscene. For me it is strong and important topic. In our small town you can observe dead fields with exhauted soil, without insects and of course without meadow birds. New homes, new habitats for the birds are gardens around the houses in towns. It is also interesting to observe differences in biodiversity within these urban gardens. It very much depends on how we behave in these gardens, how we farm here. In 2013, we decided to change one field where it was managed "chemically" into a forest park with a wetland. In total it was 6ha. A completely different landscape was created that created a completely new soundscapes. We are now working on two other similar projects. I hope that we will start to implement them next year.

Yes, this sound really good and the transitions from place t place comes across very well in the changes in acoustic and what is going on. Particularly in this last 15 min moving into central Berlin showing huge contrasts between loud traffic/tram streets to the surprsingly quiet ambiences protected by large buildings. The pigeons were great.
13:59
And I now hear starlings. Alexanderplatz station has become quite a winter hang out place for them.

that's true, they even go inside and behave like pidgeons, eg. coming close for food.

This is really great. Thanks Katrin and Sam for this beautiful walk. Shows so many possibilities of acoustic spaces within a city, we can't really imagine unless we hear it this way.
