dears, it was a quick decision this afternoon, I've put a microphone at a patch of wild nature enclosed by railway tracks, in Berlin Lichterfelde. At about 8:30pm CEST /Berlin time I'll switch it live on radio.aporee.org. Hope you'll find thetime to join the rainy session. No idea what else to hear, havn't been here before.

steady and light, nice. It was way stronger this afternoon, got wet... ;)
20:45
it's an interesting place...
20:46
surrounded and enclosed by infrastructure

to me it looks kinda scary and depressing with how it is surrounded by roads, tracks and buildings. but that's just from the impression I get from the map
u

no, that somehow fits this place.
20:56
approaching it felt weird. the only entrance I know of is in the yard of a gasoline station, at a busy road.

kind of a no man's land.

yes, but different when you're there

This afternoon

the shunting which can be heard sometimes is probably from a DHL base station nearby.
21:17
at the end of the weekend cargo train traffic increases. Guess around 10pm, but not sure though

that sounds very nice. they are pretty slow at this point and it fits the rain well

from end of 2020 very loud trains are only allowed when they drive slow, so that they don't exceed the noise level of modern quieter ones ...

the sound of rain reminds me on the SciFi short story "The Long Rain" by Ray Bradbury. But on Venus it rains since Millions of years. Colors are washed out of everything, and ground is instable. Highly recommended, as the whole book "The Illustrated Man".

oh! thanks, I was thinking of going back to fahrenheit 451 but I guess another book by him might be a better idea.

You will love "The Veldt" and many others

back to location: not more trains, but more rain...
22:22
nice percussion right now
22:32
in a few minutes I'll stop the stream for about 15min in order to make a "HD" maps recording. afterwards it will be back on air for another hour on radio.aporee.org (and on https://radio.aporee.org:8443/mobilemic8 as long as the battery lasts...)

rain intensity changed several times during the last hours, and so the tiny streams of water,

Mine have survived without problem so far, but often they are hidden in bush so well protected by leaves.

it sounds like a refuge, a patch with a few surviving species, surrounded by some moloch, a destroyed biome (like almost any city is).

Yes - but the trains, their passing by, comforting and scary, They are going somewhere, where?… I can really listen to this detached from what I know about where the place is…

as I wrote, have been there the first time and very briefly, just to drop the box. Now I realize that my topographic knowledge and imagination is way more informed by hours of listening to this strange spot, than by visual fragments of the site: very dense vegetation, infrastructures, a small lake with corners, a man and a kid fishing, somehow startled about my appearance. Interesting experience, and curious about the next visit...
09:14
a pity that I didn't go there in spring. Can imagine that there's a lot of wildlife to see and hear. It looks isolated on the map, but the railway tracks are generally good paths of migration...

btw, we're still on air at https://radio.aporee.org:8443/mobilemic8

Yes, railway tracks and areas can be very interesting to explore // Do you know the work of Ernesto Schick? On Flora - inspiration for my work on railway spaces.
