Brno, Park Lužánkyi
Lužánky (originally Augarten) is the largest city park in Brno and the oldest municipal park in the Czech Republic (13th century). The park covers an area of 22.3 hectares. Revitalisation of the park – the diversification of habitats thanks to restoration of grasslands and a brook, while preserving old trees – and also to the general trend of urbanisation in some species, has resulted in relatively high numbers (72 species in 2016) of birds observed. The permanent microphone has been established in spring 2021 by Tomáš Šenkyrík, Vit Kalvoda and Udo Noll and is working continuously since then. A great variety of sounds from dusk and dawn bird choruses to human activities and urban noise can be perceived.
